A 3-member bench of the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SCP), headed by Chief Justice Faiz Isa, has ruled to uphold its previous decision of February 6, 2024, when it ordered the release of a Qadiyani named Mubarak Sani who disseminated a banned explanation (Tafseer) book of the Holy Quran. Dozens of scholars and organisations from various jurisprudence filed complaints against the decision. In view of public agitation, SCP mentioned that it would review its decision and asked notable scholars for assistance of the court. However, in its order on Wednesday, it rejected the statements from most of the religious scholars and thus the review petitions demanding to revert the decision of February.
Peer Syed Zaheer ul Hassan Shah, in a press conference from outside the SCP, announced that Tehreek Labbaik Pakistan rejects the controversial decision of the SCP. All other religious parties, figures and organisations have also condemned the decision of the SCP. TLP has alerted it's workers to remain prepared and the future plans will be shared after consultation with the lawyers, other petitioners and religious scholars.
